A collectible whisky only available to the most exclusive of Chivas’ customers

Working in partnership with Fürstenberg, the famous German porcelain manufacturer founded in 1747, Afroditi created two handmade ceramic flasks, Dram and Mór, for Wallpaper* Handmade at Salone del Mobile 2015. The bottles were specially produced for Chivas Regal’s Royal Salute luxury whisky brand and manufactured using the ancient process of Solitaire Crystalline glazing, which dates back 1,000 years to the Song Dynasty (970-1279). The complex firing technique means it is impossible to create an exact replica of any piece – so each is unique. Afroditi’s take on the flask is a truly modern expression of British luxury and pays tribute to Royal Salute’s handcrafted porcelain flagon – itself rooted in the 18th century and linked with royalty and the aristocracy. Robust, durable and strong, the opaque body of the Royal Salute flagon is both a powerful vessel for the liquid and a graceful metaphor honouring this prestigious whisky’s lineage and flawless quality.
